HELLO THERE!

Do you know about Wurtz Reaction?
In Wurtz reaction, when two moles of alkyl halide reacts with two moles of sodium metal, we get alkanes.

Now, the same principle is followed when you react an alkyl halide with zinc and copper couple. The only difference is that, in Wurtz reaction, we need two moles of sodium,  but in this case, we need one mole of Zinc. This is because, sodium is a monovalent metal, whereas zinc is divalent.

The name of the reaction is Frankland Reaction.

Example:
2CH3Cl + Zn --------> CH3-CH3 + ZnCl2

So, the correct answer is Alkane.

THANKS!
