VSEPR is a theory given by pauling , to predict the shapoe and hybridisation of a molecule .
acc to it , its the electron which are present in a valence shell of an atom , will determine the shape of molecule .
actually what happens  , when two or more atom will combine , they will form a molecule , when combine the valence shell electron will repel each other and if repulsion will be greater that will change the bond angle , and thus structure will be affected ,
but it was discarded later beacuse it cannot explain the magnetic nature of O2 ,
hope it clears
all the best
