hi,

aldehydes can be easily oxidised to corresponding acids even with mild oxidising agents,

hence they act as good reducing agents

when aldehydes are treated with benedicts solution,

a red ppt of cuprous oxide is obtained,

if no ppt is obtained then the compund will be a ketone as they cannot reduce benedicts solution or tollen's reagent
