1. Calculate the useful work of the reaction
Ag(s) + Cl2(g) AgCl(s) Given EoCl2/Cl– = + 1.36 V
EoAgCl/Ag,Cl– = 0.22 V
if PCl2 = 1 atm and T = 298 K

(a) 110 kJ/mol

DECREASE IN FREE ENERGY OF THE SYSTEM =ELECTRICAL WORKDONE =nE0F WHERE n is no of electrons participating in the reacn E0is emf of cell & F IS FARADAY CONSTANT sub values
work done=2×96450×0.22=42.84kJ/mol then it will be around 55kj/mol
