Dear Anurag,

Hydrogen bonds are a special type of dipole-dipole van der Waals force. It is the slight attraction of H+ bonded to another atom. Water molecules form hydrogen bonds because of the hydrogen atoms attached to the oxygen. Water molecules are polar so hydrogen bonding occurs.
