what will be no of chiral molecule on monochlorination of 2 methyl butane??

the no. of chiral molecules will be 2.

reason:if the substitution takes place at the carbon no. 3 we get a chiral molecule.(CARBON 3 IS CHIRAL)

CH3-CH(CH3)-CH(Cl)-CH3

also if substitution takes place at methyl side chain then the second(2) carbon becomes chiral(AS IT HAS 4 DIFFERENT SUBTITUENTS-CH3, CH2Cl, H and remaining chain.)  

CH3-CH(CH2Cl)-CH2-CH3
