How should I approach a problem in organic chemistry as no definitive formula or algorithm exists
Organic chemistry is all about thinking what can happen.
When you see a question, the approach you need to make is identify the type of reagent i.e. whether it is nucleophile, electrophile or something else.
Half your work is done if you correctly identify the kind of reactant.
Next, move on to identify the reactive sites in the reactant molecule and create the products (can be more than one)
Lastly, identify the most stable product or transition state and you get your answer.
