In chair form of cyclohexane, E2 elmination reaction is possible only if the leaving group and beta hydrogen are in axial positions. But in some cases, I observed it is not true. Please explain me the mechanism.

In chair form of cyclohexane,E2 elimination is possible if and only if the leaving group and beta hydrogen are in axial positions. If they are not at axial positions and rather at equatorial ones then ring flipping occurs in order to make equatorial bonds as axial.

The following mechanism will help you to understand it better.
