[Ag(NH3)2]+ is the complex part of tollens reagent...so tollens test is used to distinguish 1 butene and 1 butyne...becauseTollens' reagent is a test for alkynes with a triple bond in the 1-position. A yellow precipitate of the metal acetylide is formed in this case...whereas alkene doesnt give any precipitate...so we use this to distinguish terminal alkynes with terminal alkenene..
