sir why is boiling point of cis-2-butene less than trans-2-butene????????????????????????????

Due to the structure of cis and trans, cis is less stable than trans due to steric hindrance in the structure of cis. Since, a less stable compound will require less energy to break the bond. Hence, boiling point of cis is always less than that of trans.
