why acidity decreases when -I group attached to meta position

-I group such as NO2 ,CHO etc... when attached at ortho or para position increases acidity because of resonance effect at these positions,but when grops placed at meta pos, then also acidity is increased but to lower extent because at meta position there is no resonance effect observed  so it is less acidic ...
