Why is the enolic group acidic whereas the hydroxyl group is neutral?

Dear Sumit,
The negative charge on Oxygen in the corresponding base of enol is resonance stablized with -C=C- in conjugation unlike the hydroxyl group. So enolic group is acidic while the hydeoxyl group is neutral.
