							Let molecular formula be CxHy1.8 g of water equals to 0.1 mole of water equals to 0.2 moles of H atomNow H is coming from hydrocarbon so `no. of moles of hydrocarbon × y=0.2`=》(1.4/(12 × X + 1 × y ))  × y = 0.2On solving y/x = 2Hence empirical formula is CH2
