0.100 mole of an ideal gas is heated from 10C to 20C keepin its a) volume constant b)pressure constant. Let U a and U b denote the change in the internal energy of the gas due to process a and b respectivily.Then which of the following shall be true? a)U a =U b b)U a>U b c)U a <U b d)U a =U b =0

We know that in first law of thermodynamics the heat supplied is used to cahnge the internal enegy and is used to do the work.So in the first case since the volume is kept constant the work done is taken as 0 whereas in the second case since the work done is actually positive the change in internal energy is lee than that in first case.So the answer is option .

answer is option a simce delta u only change when the temprature of a body changes since in both of the cases change in temp is same therefore delta u will be same for both cases
