Dear Ramesh
 (1) diazomethane reacts with mercuric chloride [85] or bromide [86] to give either the monoalkyl- or dialkylmercurial.
 hence
 HgCl2 + CH2N2 ---------> Cl –Hg –CH2 –Cl  ----------->  Hg(CH2Cl)2
