Why alkali metals are most suitable as photosensitive surfaces?

Alkali metals have large size and therefore low ionisation energy i.e., less energy is required to eject out electron .so they are used as photosensitiv surfaces.Specially caesium is used because it has lowest ionisation energy among all elements.
