Hi,

Lets assume that the objects collide after t time at x distance from origin point of projectile.
Write the equation of motion for projectile ( bothe horizontal and vertical direction ) and dropping body.

now relate x with H2 ( by writing distance travelled) and H1 ( by writing distance travelled in vertical direction) and write the equations. You will see that XTAN(THETA) = H1 ( IN TERMS OF X) +H2 ( IN TERMS OF X).
