Is the fabric of space-time necessary for the propogation of light?



please answer with a reason,mathematical if possible.




Also,please mention whether the presence of space-time fabric is a necessary or a sufficient condition for the propagation of light assuming that a source of light is already in space?

I think space- time is neeting for propagation of light. I fthere is no space there would be no propagation.
