K- alfa line is more intense than k-beta line because k-alfa line is produced by transfer of L electron to K electron shell. This transistion is more probable than M shell to K shell , which is the case with k-beta production. Thus k-alfa line is more intense than k-beta in characterstic spectrum of x-rays.
