an object in motion stays in motion until a force acts on it to change its motion.

The solar system formed from a cloud of debris that was rotating under its natural impetus. that motion was not removed as the bits came together to form the planets and the sun. Now, there is only gravity that is acting on the planets to slow them down, and gravity is a fairly weak force and does little to slow things down even over very long time periods.
so, gravity will be the main factor here as of now , but still research are gng on ..
and space and time becomes relative , u can assume that by the einstein equation

How space and time become relative?
One of the most amazing features of spatial relativity is that a number of statements and results that we often think to be absolute turn out to be observer-dependent. In particular, statements about space & time turn out to be relative.
For instance, in Einstein’s theory, simultaneity is a relative content. Assume that there are two events which an observer in space station A judges to be simultaneous – say, explosion of a firecracker at one point in space and an alarm clock going off a few miles away. For an observer in space station B, which is moving relative to A, this statement will not necessarily be true. Such an observer will come to the conclusion that one of the events happened earlier than the other.
Similarly, temporal duration depends on observer. This relativistic effect is called ‘time dilation’. In summary, moving clocks are slower than stationary ones. More precisely: An observer on station A measures time using his on-board clock. Station B, passing A at high speed, has an exact copy of A’s clock on board. Yet, from point of view of A, clock in station B runs more slowly than his own. T
How earth moves around the sun?
We are always on the move. Even when you are standing still, you are moving. You are moving because Earth and everything in our solar system is constantly moving.
Our solar system includes the Sun, nine planets and their moons, comets and asteroids. These objects are called celestial bodies and they are constantly moving too. The Earth, which is third planet from the Sun, takes 24 hours to rotate. This is what causes day & night. As Earth rotates, it also moves around the sun.
Earth’s path around the Sun is called its orbit. It takes the Earth one year or 365 ¼ days to completely orbit the Sun.
What is Geophysics?
Geophysics is a subject of natural science concerned with physical processes and physical properties of Earth and its surrounding space environment and use of quantitative methods for their analysis. The term ‘geophysics’ sometimes refers only to geological applications: Earth’s shape; its gravitational and magnetic fields; its internal structure and composition; its dynamics and their surface expression in plate tectonics, generation of magmas, volcanism and rock formation. However, modern geophysics organizations use a broader definition that includes water cycle including snow and ice; fluid dynamics of oceans and atmosphere; electricity and magnetism in ionosphere and magnetosphere and solar-terrestrial relations; and analogous problems associated with the Moon and other planets.
