How E=mc*c implies that atom is no longer indestructible?

Yes atom is destructible into its sub particle such as neutron,proton and electron. So this is a wrong assumption that atom is indestructible. On the other hand e=mc^2 implies that mass and energy both together are conserved and hence indestructible
