A radiation of wavelength 200nm is propagating in the form of a parallel surface. The intensity of the beam is 5 mW and it's cross sectional area is 1.0 mm². Find the pressure exerted by radiation on the metallic surface if the radiation is completely reflected.

λ, wavelength =200nm

Work function ϕ=2eV

Energy of ultraviolet radiation E=λhc

=200×10−9×1.6×10−196.626×10−34×3×108

=6.211 eV

hence potential = 6.2 – 2 = 4.2 eV
