A man walks 40m North then 30m East and then 40m south .Find the displacement from the starting point?

30 metres will be the answer as he goes 40 m up and 40m down afterwards that means he will be on the same line as starting point and he moved 30m east so the answer comes out to be 30m.

As the man moves 40 m North and then 40 m South, he comes to be in the same line as he was in the beginning. Also, vector quantities have magnitude and direction as well, so the answer comes out to be 30 metres towards east.
