a lump of ice falls from the top of mountain and it just melts on reaching the ground. assuming that the energy acquired by the lump when it falls is converted to heat energy that is needed for melting and that 1 g ice melts with 80 calories heat , find the height of the mounrtain?

We can solve it by applying conservation of engergy concept.
We know \frac{1}{2}mv^{2}=mgh
       Take mass as 1 gram and find v by using kinetic energy = heat energy and put the value in the above equation.
Thefinal answer will be 33.6 mtr by taking g=10m/s2
