I really wish I could have showed with a diagram but anyways, 
We know that,
     v²=u²+2as (right)
i.e   (3u)²=u²+2gh (since a=g)
        9u²=u²+2x10x20
         8u²=20x20
          u²=400/8
          u²=50
          u=5 root 2 is the answer.

Initial velocity=5sqrt(2)m/s
