he antineutrino (or anti-neutrino) is a lepton, an antimatter particle, the counterpart to the neutrino.

 

Actually, there are three distinct antineutrinos, called types, or flavors: electron antineutrino (symbol ¯νe), muon antineutrino (symbol ¯νμ), and tau antineutrino (symbol ¯ντ).
