1)why does light slow down in a denser medium?if there`s some kind of force then it should constantly de-accelerate which doesn`t happen so why does it slow down? 2)why does a candle extinguish when air(even hot) is blown?because necessary conditions for combustion includes oxygen,required temp.,fuel and when air is blown all the conditions are still there.

The ligh slows down in a denser medium because the wavelenth of the light depends upon the refractive index of the medium. wavelengh in medium= wavelength in vaccum/refractive index.
thus th speed decreases because speed= wavelength X Frequency.
