You drop an object and it bounces to one and one-half times its original height. It concludes that, the object is dropping with energy greater than its potential energy at the corresponding height. Since it rises at a height greater than its original dropping height, it also concludes that there is no loss of energy at the surface where it from bounces and there is no air resistance acting on it.
