Why is it more difficult to move a stone tied with a longer string than a stone tied with a shorter string?

To rotate it we need torque
Torque= force x perpendicular distance
 If the length of string is short, it means perpendicular distance is short. So less torque is required
So is it difficult to move a stone tied with a longer string than a stone tied with a shorter string as longer string cause larger perpendicular distance

The instantaneous velocity of the shorter string stone going around the circular path is more tangential to than that of longer one so it is harder to move a stone tied with longer string than that of stone tied with shorter string
