Dear student
Linear acceleration is rate of change of magnitude of velocity
Angular acceleration is rate of change of magnitude as well as direction of velocity.

Angular acceleration is the allegation perpendicular to velocity of particle and thus not changing the magnitude but only direction
But linear acceleration is accleleraccein direction of velocity and thus changing magnitude only(+ and - will show opposite  direction in that line)
