What is chain rule in differentiation?Explain briefly.

Chain rule in differential calculus is a rule used to find differentiation of functions whose base is not in the form of primary variable i.e. x.
For example sin(2x). We have the differentiation of sin x =cos x but for sin2x we have to apply chain rule.
so d(sin(2x))/dx= d(sin(2x)) x d(2x)/d(sin(2x)) x d(x) = 2cos(2x)
