At initial position both A and B are at rest, hence momentum is zero. It is given that no external force is acting on them .So, momentum remains zero. Since mass cannot be zero, therefore velocity is zero.

From rest and there is no net force on Com Thus the CON will not move from its position. Due to lack of external force

When A and B are at rest position initially then we can say momentum is zero and it is said in the question that no external force is acting on the body so momentum will be zero since mass has some quantity so it can't gain zero condition so velocity will be zero
Thanks a lot🤗🤗🤗

As both bodies were initially at rest,so CONSERVATION OF LINEAR MOMENTUM states that initial momentum is equal to final momentum provided that no external force[f.ext] acts on the system. So initially v.com=0 and finally to keep momentum 0 i.e conserved we should keep v .com =0 because mass of body can never be zero......HOPE IT HELPS..
