Here the lighter box is initaly at rest . When an impulse is given to heavier box the box moves ahead
So,ย 
V1=14m/s
V2=om/s
m1=10kg
m2=4kg
So V=m1v1+m2v2/m1+m2
ย  ย  ย  ย  =10*14+0/14
ย  ย  ย  ย  =10m/s
