Dear Student,
Average kinetic energy is given as = 3KT/2 ( T is in Kelvin)
For a gas H2, 5 x 10^-14 erg = 3K(273 – 23)/2
K = (5 x 10^-14)/375
 
For O2 it would be:
(3*(5 x 10^-14)*500)/375 = 20 x 10^14 erg.
