The center of mass of a full can of soda is approximately at the center. (a) Part of the soda is consumed and the can is re- placed on the table. What happens to the center of mass of the can + soda system? (b) Eventually all of the soda is consumed and the can is replaced on the table. What happens to the center of mass of the can? See Problem 5.

(a) When part of the soda is consumed, the center of mass of soda-can system shifts away from the center of the can, towards the base of the can, on which it rest on the table. This can be seen from the fact that the contribution of mass from the soda consumed no longer exists, and therefore the center of mass must move towards the soda present in the can.
(b) When all of the soda is consumed, the center of mass can again be located at the center of the can. If one assumes that soda can is symmetrical in shape, then the center of mass of an empty soda will align itself to the geometrical center of can.

The centre of mass of a full can of soda is at the geometrical centre of can.One can find it by assuming the can to be symmetrical.(a)When a part of a soda is consumed, the centre of mass shifts to the lower soda,as the massof the can is greater at lower end.(b)When all of the soda is consumed, means when the can is empty. The centre of mass shifts back to the geometric centre.
