```							Young’s Modulus or modulus of elasticity (Y) measures the elasticity of the material and is defined as,Y = Stress/Strain = (F/A)/(Δl/l) = F. l/A. Δl …… (1)Where, F is the force acting on the rope, A is the area of the rope, l is the original length of the rope and Δl is the change in length of the rope. If the change in length of a wire is small then the value of Young’s Modulus will be larger results the wire is more elastic.Steel is more elastic than rubber. It means that, the change in length in the case of steel is less than the case of rubber by applying equal amount of force to both the wires. So the Young’s Modulus of the steel is greater than the Young’s Modulus of rubber. Therefore steel wire produces less extension than rubber by applying same amount of force to both the wire.
