							Dear student,

Since no external force acts on the system in horizontal direction, the linear momentum of the system in the horizontal direction is zero at all times. Hence after reaching the concerned position,

momentum of hemisphere towards left= momentum of block towards right
\implies Mv_0=m(vcos\theta-v_0)(since the velocity of the block will be vector sum of hemisphere’s velocity and its velocity wrt hemisphere)

SinceM=3m,

4v_0=v cos\theta
\implies v_0=\dfrac{v}{4}cos\theta
