d a relation b/w V and V0. Since the only external force mg is in vertical direction(yes there’s normal too I know but again vertical) we can conserve momentum in the horizontal direction. Since relative velocity of block with respect to the sphere is given, V12 = V1-V2. Velocity of block is there fore (V)costheta (because horizontal component) + (V0) but this is in vector form so it’s actual velocity = Vcostheta-V0. Now apply conservation of linear momentum in x direction. M/3(Vcostheta-V0) = MV0. we get V0=Vcostheta/4. (A) should be the answer.
