The statement is true for any acceleration in vertical direction as it may not affect the pressure gradient in the horizontal direction .But in the second case as there is an acceleration in the horizontal direction ,ther is a pressure gradient in the horizontal direction due to a psuedo force.Hence in the second case the pressure at same hieght may not be same.
