PLZ HELP
Two bodies of masses m and 2m collide together with e=0.5 and relative approach speed of “u”. WHAT IS the loss in K.E.?

Let us first calculate centre of mass as relative speed is u, let us assume 2m mass is at rest:So we have mu+2m(0)= mV+2mv........1And e=(v-V)/u-0......2By solving above we have: u=2V and V=2v.......3Now loss in K.E is {m(2m)(1-e^2)(u rel ^2)} / 2(m+2m)After solving we have (mu^2)/4Hope that helps
