Please explain the concept behind this question. I am not able to understand will the two spring favor each other or oppose each other. I am getting the answer when i make them both oppose each other but still not able to understand the concept.

First clarify what do you mean by favour or oppose each other.The point you have to notice is in both springs there is extension.movingin opposite direction doesn`tmean that they oppose each other.

Three identical balls are placed on a frictionless horizontal surface touching each other. They stick to each other because of adhesive. Another ball of same radius and mass m is placed over the void created by the three balls. Find the forces applied by the balls kept on the floor to each other if the system remains in equilibrium.
