If a body of mass m is thrown vertically upwards with th a velocity v,the maximum ht h can be found from the relation: 1/2mv^2=(GMm/R)-(GMm/R+h) h=v^2*R/(2gR-v^2)v=1/2 (escpe vlcty) and V.E=2gRSubstituting this in eqn of ht we get h as R/3
