Let us assume that the home plate is s meters away and the fastball is thrown with a speed v such that the ball reaches the home plate in time t .
Given:
Speed of fastball, v = 160 km / h
Distance of separation between the pitcher and the home plate, s = 18.4 m.
The speed of the fastball in meter per second is:

The time t taken by the fastball to reach the home plate, thrown at speed v(in m/s) is:
t = \frac{s}{v}
Substitute the given values

Therefore the fastball will reach the home plate in 0.41s.
