m: Mass of block A
M: Mass of block B

When B leaves contact, its entire weight must be balanced by the spring force (so that the normal reaction goes to zero).
This gives
k x = M g
where x is the amount by which spring expands.

This would mean that the block A has moved down by an amount x.

Using conservation of energy,
m g x = 0.5 k x^2

Solve to get m = M/2.
