Mechanic advantage of pulley system................LTS 05/03

Dear student,

To calculate the mechanical advantage of a pulley you simply have to count the number of rope sections that support whatever object you are lifting.

Here the weight is attacehd to two pulleys,hence a mechanical advantage of 2 is offered by this pulley. But the second pulley also divides the effort into the ropes has MA of 2. Hence the total mechanical advantage of 4.
