in the eqn used...u have ommited ut. i.e. in y= ut + ½ gt^2... ut is ommited..why?

Because the body was initially at rest.So initial velocity u=0 so ut=0 so it has ommitted utTherefore s=1/2gt^2.The question is not given but i guess the question is of a body which is dropped from a height and is accelerating downwards with an acceleration g(which is aceleration due to gravity)
