There can be accelerated motion of the fluid particles in a steady flow. In steady flow of fluid particles, the tangent to the streamline gives the direction of the velocity vector. As the fluid particles moves along the streamline, the magnitude of its velocity vector changes. This means the fluid particles are accelerated.

Consider three position a, b and c in a streamlined flow. Let the velocity vector at these positions be Va, Vb, and, Vc. All the particles at a will have velocity VA and at b will have Vb etc. VA may not be equal to Vb. If it is more then it is accelerated motion.
