In questions involving relative motion if the speed of river is more than speed of man how can we calculate the minimum distance and shortest time. please tell this with an eg. and some other problems involving relative motion when bodies are moving in different directions

Hello
for minimum distance we have to travel right accross the river
=> resultant_horizontal speed =0
for minimum time we maxmize the perpendicular to river speed
=>resultant_horizontal speed = speed of the river.
in that case you have to travel some more distance to get to the point right across the river=v_river*t_taken
We won’t give you example because method is enough.
Thanks & Regards
