The law of momentum conservation can be stated as follows. For a collision occurring between object 1 and object 2 in an isolated system, the total momentum of the two objects before the collision is equal to the total momentum of the two objects afterthe collision.

Consider two balls which are going to collide with each other
let initial momentum be P
consider both the balls as system
before colln Fnet=0
during colln Fnet=0
after colln Fnet=0
Fnet=dp/dt=0
dp=change in momentum=0
therefore
final momentum - initial momentum=0
final momentum=initial momentum=P
