Let range of projectile be R
then as there is no horizontal force on the body the com will not have any path other than the projectile 
Therefore if the body does not break it should reach at r
Therefore when the body breaks it's com should be at r
At final position fragment be at X ( from point of projection )
X=2r by conserving the position of com
